This pulled pork recipe features tender pork butt simmered in flavorful Red Boat Vietnamese Simmer Sauce until it falls apart. After searing the pork for a rich, caramelized crust, it's slow-cooked with the sauce and water until perfectly tender. Shredded and tossed with the thickened sauce, the pork is served on brioche buns with optional cucumbers and Vietnamese pickles for a fresh, tangy contrast. It's an easy, flavorful dish perfect for a satisfying sandwich!
Ingredients
-
1 jar of Red Boat Vietnamese Simmer Sauce
- 1lb pork butt or pork shoulder
- 1 1/2 cups of water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Brioche buns
- Cucumbers, optional
- Vietnamese pickles, optional
Directions
Pat pork butt dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
In a large pan over medium heat, sear pork butt on both sides until browned.
Pour in 1 jar of Red Boat Vietnamese Simmer Sauce. Fill the jar up with water, close the lid and shake. Pour the water into the pan and stir to combine with the sauce.
Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce to a simmer for about 1 hour or until tender. Stir occasionally to ensure the bottom does not stick to the pan and burn.
- Remove pork butt and place in a bowl. Remove sauce and place in a separate bowl. Use two forks to shred the pork into small chunks. Add 2-3 tablespoons of the thickened simmer sauce and toss to combine.
- To assemble, add pulled pork, sliced cucumbers, and Vietnamese pickles to a bun. Add more sauce as desired and enjoy!
