Fueled by memories of his childhood in Saigon, Cuong Pham set out to recapture the flavors of his youth, specifically the intensely fragrant nước mắm nhi, or fish sauce — a quintessentially Vietnamese flavor quite unlike any other. After coming to the United States, however, Cuong realized there was no fish sauce of the same quality. So, he decided to make his own. In 2006, the journey of Red Boat Fish Sauce began... 

Cuong expanded a small, family-owned factory on the beautiful tropical island of Phu Quoc, long known as the source of the finest fish sauce in the world. Using an ancient artisanal process and two simple ingredients — the flavorful black anchovy and aged sea salt — the world's finest fish sauce was born. 

In 2011, Cuong partnered with Betsy Fox of Forklift Foods to launch the Red Boat brand. A longtime expert on Vietnamese culture, Betsy instantly recognized Red Boat's outstanding quality, and the potential build Red Boat into a culinary power house. 

Today, the Red Boat brand is stronger than ever, continuing to build on its successful original product. In an age where traceability and transparency of ingredients is of utmost importance, Red Boat checks all of the boxes: you won't find any additives, preservatives, or flavor enhancers. The Red Boat recipe is based on 200 years of artisanal craft, and will continue to produce the purest fish sauce on earth for years to come.
